FAU Goes Up Early, Falls 4-3

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's tennis built a 3-0 lead but could not hold on, falling to No. 21 UCF 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.
The match was the second of four scheduled versus in-state foe and was the fourth contest in as many scheduled dual matches that were determined by a 4-3 score. FAU moves to 0-4 on the year, while the Knights move to 9-1.
The Owls captured the doubles point with wins on courts one and three in the best two-of-three format. FAU then quickly won on court #6 with a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set win by sophomore Simon Myslivec. The Owls then welcomed back senior John Bernard, who was out the last match due to illness. Bernard built upon that lead, putting the Owls up 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 win on court #1. Then, the battle began with UCF winning courts four and five in straight sets and needing three sets to complete their 4-3 comeback.
