Adams and Svozilova Named CUSA Pair of the Week

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Helping lead the Sandy Owls to a perfect 4-0 weekend to open the season, which included earning four straight-set sweeps and three top-20 wins, Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova were named the Conference USA Pair of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
The honor marks the first for Sandy Owls this season, as well as the third career weekly honor for Svozilova and the second for Adams.
Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova led Florida Atlantic to an unbeaten 4-0 record, earning three top-20 wins, including defeating No. 13 Georgia State, No. 14 Washington, No. 17 FIU, and Tampa during its season-opening Sandy Spartan Showdown this past weekend in Tampa. The pair earned four straight-set sweeps at the 1s this weekend in Tampa. Adams and Svozilova opened the weekend on Friday, earning a sweep against No. 14 Washington's Lauren Wilcock and Katarina Pantovic, 21-19, 21-12, before closing out their first day of play with another straight-set sweep against CUSA rival FIU's Nicole Robison and Ella Gray, 21-14, 21-13. On Saturday, the pair opened play against Tampa, defeating the Spartans' top pair of Angel Williams and Elizabeth Price, 21-13, 21-17, before closing out their weekend against No. 13 Georgia State's top pair of Destiny White and Savannah Ebarb, 21-18, 21-13.
