Charlotte Perkins posted a round of even-par 72 and is one shot off the individual lead.

- Only two players in the field broke par on a very difficult first day at the National GC
- Perkins played solid, steady golf from start to finish balancing two birdies with two bogeys on her first nine and one birdie and one bogey on her closing nine
- The average scored for the field on Friday was 77.56 (more than five shots over par)
- As a team, the Owls are in 10th place at +27
- Florida leads the team competition at +11
