Owls Shutout Delaware to Complete Weekend Sweep

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball held Delaware without a hit for the final six innings on Sunday in route to a 7-0 series finale victory. The Owls completed the sweep and enter Tuesday's first meeting of the season with Miami at 3-0.
On the mound, freshman James Litman worked around a double in the second inning and two singles in the third. The West Boca HS grad struck out four before departing after three and two-thirds scoreless innings.
THE BEGINNING
The Owls' first hit of the day gave them the lead in the second inning. After a walk and a hit by pitch, John Martinez lined a double to the gap to score two runs.On the mound, freshman James Litman worked around a double in the second inning and two singles in the third. The West Boca HS grad struck out four before departing after three and two-thirds scoreless innings.
THE TURNING POINT
The Owls added to the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Carter Brady was hit by a pitch and Kyle Boylston doubled to set up an RBI groundout by Martinez. Two batters later, Jake Duer roped a double to the opposite field to bring in Boylston and Nick Romano found a hole on the left side of the infield to score one more. THE FINISH
A fifth-inning RBI double by Jake Millan and a run-scoring single by Boylston capped off the scoring in the fifth. From there, it was all pitching. Five FAU relievers combined to hold Delaware without a hit and preserve the shutout.THE BATS
- The Owls finished with 10 hits, led by two each from Millan and Boylston.
- Millan finished the opening weekend 7-for-12 with a home run, four doubles, seven RBI, and seven runs scored.
- Boylston debuted on Saturday and is now 6-for-7 with three doubles and five RBI.
THE ARMS
- Litman earned the win on a pitch count (68) in his collegiate debut.
- He was backed up by Braden Ostrander, who got the last out of the fourth and pitched a scoreless fifth.
- Carter Holjes and Joey Abbazia – each making their FAU debuts – handled the sixth and seventh innings without issue.
- Dawson Ball got the first two outs of the eighth before turning it over to Ryan Buckler for the final four outs.
- The pitching staff finished the three-game series with a team 1.67 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 27 innings.
