Owls Roll to 4-0 with Saturday’s Win Over UNF

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's tennis downed the visiting Osprey of North Florida by a 7-0 score on Saturday afternoon, completing back-to-back sweeps in as many days.

Coming off a 4-0 win on Friday in Fort Myers, Florida, the Owls took to the courts Saturday morning to square off versus the visiting UNF. Playing a clinch-play format, doubles play began with the senior FAU duo of Victoria Gomez O'Hayon / Millie-Mae Matthews coming off court #2 with a 6-2 win. Securing the doubles point came down to which court would close out first, court #1 or #3. In the end, the doubles point was clinched by the FAU newcomer duo of Malwina Rowinska / Lara Smejkal, who captured court #1 at 6-4.

Singles play began with the Owls quickly seizing control. Rowinska gave Florida Atlantic a 6-2, 6-1 win on court #4. Panna Bartha then won court #2 7-5, 6-2, and Smejkal would clinch the match on court #3 with a straight-set win. Holding the match at 4-0, the two teams continued play, allowing Gomez O'Hayon the opportunity to complete her match with a court #1 6-3, 6-3 win. Courts five and six also fell in FAU's favor, with Matthews winning court #6 by a 6-2, 6-1 score, and Lexi Silna completed the shutout with a 6-3, 6-3 court #5 win.

The win moved FAU's record to 4-0 on the year, while UNF dropped to 0-3.
