BOCA RATON, Fla. – Coming off a 27-21 victory at Rice, Florida Atlantic football's Michael Kirch received American Conference Honorable Mention weekly honors for his efforts in the win, announced the league on Monday.
Kirch, a senior tight end, transferred to the Owls after receiving an undergraduate degree from Thomas More, where both of his parents were once student-athletes. The Ohio native joined the Owls in the summer of 2025, began his acclimation to FBS football and has steadily increased his Owls' impact.
In the season opener at Maryland, Kirch recorded two catches for a total of two yards. He saw action the following week versus Florida A&M, the Owls' season home opener. Kirch drew his first start and collected eight passes at FIU. His second start came versus Memphis, a game where he had 18 yards on two receptions. In the Owls' fifth game of the year, Kirch tallied 82 yards, two ending in touchdowns in FAU's 27-21 win at Rice.
Kirch's four receptions, 82 yards, and two score performance is the best by an FAU tight end since Harrison Bryant's 182-yard game at UTSA back on November 23, 2019. Incidentally, Bryant, the 2019 John Mackey Award winner, is scheduled to be inducted into the Florida Atlantic Athletics Hall of Fame this Friday, Oct. 10, and will be on site for Saturday's football game versus UAB at 6 p.m.
