BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's soccer tied UAB 3-3 on Friday night in a chaotic, back-and-forth American Conference showdown. The Owls (9-3-1, 4-1-1) are now locked in a three-way tie for first place with two matches left in the regular season.
After a quiet first half, UAB (4-7-2, 1-4-1) opened the scoring in the 47th minute from the penalty spot. The Owls didn't take long to respond when just six minutes later, Kerfalla Toure headed home a corner kick from Oliver Moller-Jensen.
Moller-Jensen continued to cause major problems for the UAB defense. In the 61st minute, it was his pass into the six-yard box that was redirected home by Fabian Wagner. Four minutes after that, the junior connected on a thunderous strike from the top of the Blazers' penalty area, finding the bottom right corner for his third goal of the season.
Up 3-1 with 25 minutes to go, the Owls were well on their way to taking all three points. UAB, however, was not ready to go quietly into the night. Lucas Rizzo brought the Blazers back within a goal in the 70th minute. Rizzo then tied the match with just under 10 minutes to go.
The Owls' hopes of finding a winner were dealt another blow in the 83rd minute when freshman Emil Lausten was issued a red card. FAU survived the final seven minutes with 10 men.

With Charlotte's loss to FIU and USF's win over Temple, all three teams enter the final week of the regular season with 12 points.
That sets up a pivotal showdown in Tampa next Wednesday, October 29, when the Owls visit USF for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Florida Atlantic returns home Sunday, November 2, to complete the regular season against Tulsa.
