Owls’ Winning Streak Halted at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 22 Florida Atlantic men's soccer (9-3, 4-1) had its five-match winning streak halted with a 1-0 defeat to Charlotte (6-3-2, 4-0-1) on Friday night. The Owls are one point behind the 49ers in the American Conference standings with three matches remaining in the regular season.
Charlotte scored the game's only goal in the 59th minute and locked it down defensively for the final half hour. The Owls managed just one shot on goal while the 49ers finished with three.
The Owls were without starting goalkeeper Alfred Mikkelsen due to injury. In his place, senior Guilherme Pipolo made his first start and recorded two saves.
Florida Atlantic returns home next Friday October 24, for a meeting with UAB at 7 p.m.
