Big Opportunity Awaits for Owls

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic football team's Tuesday practice was a strong one, with Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Zach Kittley praising work of the scout team and trade.
It comes at the right time for the Owls, who hold a two-game winning streak and have an important opportunity in front of them: a matchup against No. 19 South Florida on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
The team currently boasts one of the top offenses in the American Conference, led by QB Caden Veltkamp. The redshirt junior is the NCAA's leader in completions per game (27.3) and leads the league in passing yards (1,781), passing touchdowns (14), passing yards per game (297.5), and total offense (307.7).
Defensively, the unit has a knack for making plays at the line of scrimmage, becoming the first Owls' defense since 2019 to have recorded at least five tackles for loss in the first six games. The team's success continues on special teams where the Owls have recorded two punt blocks for touchdowns.
As a team, the Owls lead the conference in 17 statistical categories
