BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's basketball kicks off a two-game homestand on Wednesday, Jan. 8, hosting the Temple Owls for a midweek matchup. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
- Florida Atlantic enters this week's midweek matchup at 9-6 overall and 1-1 in American Athletic Conference play. The Owls are fresh off an impressive 16-point win over the East Carolina Pirates, 64-48.
- Lovisa Asbrink Hose was named AAC Freshman of the Week and Mya Perry was recognized as AAC Weekly Honorable Mention this week following impressive performances at East Carolina this past Saturday. Mya Perry registered a career-best 29 points, shooting 50 percent (10-of-20) from the field, 50 percent (4-of-8) from beyond the arc, and 83 percent (5-of-6) from the line, while also tying a career-best four steals and collecting a board in the win. Lovisa Asbrink Hose finished with a career-high seven points, shooting 33 percent (2-of-6) from the field, and going perfect from 3-point range (1-of-1) and at the line (2-of-2), in addition to collecting a career-high seven rebounds, and recording a block and a steal against the Pirates.
- As a team, The Owls lead the AAC in fouls per game (13.2) and rebounds per game (41.1), and rank second in 3-point percentage defense (.287), third in field goal percentage defense (.381), fourth in scoring defense (61.9), and fifth in defensive rebounds per game (27.6), offensive rebounds per game (13.5), 3-point attempts per game (19.3), and winning percentage (.600)
- Mya Perry, who earned her second AAC Honorable Mention honor on Monday, paces the Owls offensively, ranking third in the AAC in 3-pointers made (40) and 3-pointers per game (2.7) and fourth in points (236), boasting a team-leading 236 points, averaging 15.7 points per game. Jada Moore ranks second on the team with 172 points, averaging a team third-best 11.5 points per game.
- Stefanie Ingram ranks second in the AAC and leads the Owls in assists, recording 74 assists this season, while also ranking third in the AAC in assists per game, dishing out a team-leading 4.9 assists per contest.
- Defensively, the Owls are led on the glass by Ta'Ziah Jenks, who boasts a team-leading 84 assists, and tying for a team-high 5.6 rebounds per game. Jenks and Perry are tied for a team-leading 1.5 steals per game, while Alana Rouser leads the team in blocks, averaging 0.8 blocks per contest this season.
- Temple enters this week's matchup at 8-6 overall and 2-1 in AAC play. The Owls opened conference play with a pair of wins over UAB, 97-74, and East Carolina, 63-58, before falling against South Florida, 65-56.
- As a team, Temple leads the AAC in turnover margin (3.9), and ranks second in fouls per game (14.9), free throw percentage (.709), turnovers forced per game (19.4), third in steals per game (9.8) and turnovers per game (15.5), fourth in assist/turnover ratio (0.84) and offensive rebounds per game (13.7), and fifth in 3-point percentage (.319).
- The Owls are led offensively by Tiarra East, who ranks seventh in the AAC in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game. Tarriyonna Gary ranks second on the team offensively, recording 10.4 points per contest this season.
- East also leads Temple in assists, dishing out 3.0 assists per game.
- Defensively, the Owls are led by Anissa Rivera, who leads the team in rebounds, steals, and blocks. Rivera boasts a team-leading 7.0 rebounds per game, 1.8 steals per game, and 1.3 blocks per game.
- The Owls trail Temple 0-1 all-time after falling in the first-ever meeting between the two programs, 74-53, in last season's regular season finale on March 6, 2024.
- The Owls secured a huge road win at East Carolina this past Saturday, earning a 16-point win, 64-48, in Greenville.
- The win marked the Owls first-ever over ECU and the first for the Owls in Greenville.
- Mya Perry led the way for the Owls with a career-best 29-point performance, shooting 50 percent (10-of-20) from the field, 50 percent (4-of-8) from beyond the arc, and 83 percent (5-of-6) at the line. She also tied for a team-high four steals and collected a board.
- Jada Moore also scored in double figures for the Owls, turning in 12 points on 44 percent (4-of-9) from the field and 4-of-6 at the line.
- Ta'Ziah Jenks led the Owls on the boards, collecting a career-high 13 rebounds and adding seven points, two steals, an assist, and a block.
- Stefanie Ingram dished out a team-leading five assists.
- Florida Atlantic dominated in the second half, outscoring East Carolina 39-22 over the final two quarters.
- The Owls dominated in transition, outscoring the Pirates 19-3, and in points off turnovers, 25-9, and in steals, 11-7.
- Florida Atlantic outshot ECU from the field, 35.6 percent to 33.9 percent, and from 3-point range, 38.9 percent to 14.3 percent.
- Following Wednesday's contest, the Owls will close out their two-game homestand on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. against the UAB Blazers inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
