BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's tennis hosted Miami on Thursday afternoon for the first time in program history despite matching up more than 20 times. At the end of the night, the dual resulst didn't coach, but the Owls showed strength courts one through six.
Florida Atlantic picked up a court three doubles victory but ultimately dropped the doubles point best two of three. The two teams moved into singles play of a clinch-clinch format down 1-0. FAU's
Marek Pazdera evened the score at 1-1 with a court five straight-set win. UM took a short lead before Owl newcomer
Jan Kusy came back from being down one set, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, to even the match at two all. Senior
John Bernard gave FAU its first lead of the match with a three-set win 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 on court #1.
The Owls' lead was brief, with the Canes capturing court three to turn fans' attention towards court six. Ultimately, the match was completed, but following a challenge the score did not count.
