BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's soccer claimed half of this week's American Conference weekly honors, the league announced on Monday.
Mamadou Diarra earned the Offensive Player of the Week award, while
Kasper Heerfordt was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Diarra burst onto the scene with a hat trick in the first half on Thursday vs. Stetson. The senior followed up that performance by scoring the game-winner in the second half on Sunday against Belmont. He added a pair of assists on the Owls' other two goals.
Heerfordt, the Owls' only true freshman, played all 90 minutes at right back on Sunday. He delivered the cross that led to Diarra's game-winner in the 67th minute. It was his first career point.
The Owls are 1-1-1, with the result of the suspended Stetson match still pending. Next on the schedule is a meeting with Utah Valley on Thursday at 7 p.m. All home games at the FAU Soccer Stadium are free admission.
