BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic graduate senior goalkeeper
Nacho Alfaro has been named the AAC's Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Forward
Mamadou Diarra and defender
Callum Frogson each earned a nod to the Weekly Honorable Mention list.
With a two-save performance on Friday against UNF, Alfaro recorded his second clean sheet of the season in the 2-0 victory. The Costa Rican has played every minute of every game in goal for the Owls through the first month of the season and holds a minuscule 1.00 goals-against average.
Diarra scored both FAU goals in the win, including a first-half stunner that ended up as sixth-best play of the night on Sportscenter's Top 10. He leads the team with three tallies and nine points through five games. His first-half hat trick against Stetson is still considered unofficial until that match is completed.
Frogson played a vital role in holding UNF to just three shot attempts on Friday. The junior has been a constant for the Owls at center back joining Alfaro as the only two who have played all 450 minutes in the first five games.
The Owls begin conference play Saturday at UAB. Kick-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
