LAFAYETTE, La. – Florida Atlantic's women's soccer team finished their match against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns' in a 0-0 draw on Sunday afternoon.
The Owls ended with a tie against Louisiana to improve their overall record this season to 0-2-2.
Florida Atlantic made a switch to their starting XI by having senior
Drew Dempsey and junior
Morgan McDonald instead of forward
Sloane Young and midfielder
Emmy Schleifer in the lineup for the matchup. In the seventh minute of the match, goalkeeper
Lexi Gonzalez recorded her first save of the day. At the end of the first half, the match remained scoreless. Gonzalez finished the first 45 minutes with two saves.
At the end of the second half, the match ended with no goals from either team, allowing the Owls to record their first shutout of the season. Gonzalez ended the match with five saves, which moved her to 115 career saves. She is ranked. No. 10 in saves in the program and is 12 saves away from No. 9. Gonzalez has 12 saves on the season with a .600 save percentage.
The Owls will remain on the road as they will take on the University of Alabama on Thursday, Aug. 29. Kick-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST, and the match will be aired on SEC Network+.
