BOCA RATON, Fla. – Sports fans are familiar with sayings like "The best offense is a good defense." Another is, "Our team is only as good as the scout team." On Monday, the Florida Atlantic football team began implementing its scout team.
The scout team will be charged with not only their personal development but also learning and implementing the upcoming opponent's offense and defenses in an effort to prepare the team for their next game. That is where sayings such as "We were prepared. They didn't show us anything that we had not seen before,' comes from.
The Owls also began their first game prep week with a Monday practice, a trend that will be used throughout the 2024 season.

FAU Alumni and Community Engagement will host two away events. The first is October 19th, when the Owls travel to San Antonio to face host UTSA. The second will be before the November 16th game versus Temple in Philadelphia. For more information, email alumni.affairs@fau.edu.
Host, producer, and longtime South Florida broadcaster Frank Forte will again provide Florida Atlantic fans with an in-depth look at Owl Football. Following the conclusion of the 2024 football season, Forte will delve into all things FAU Athletics.
Forte will sit down one-on-one with Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Tom Herman each week this fall. Additionally, this week Forte will profile FAU quarterback Cam Fancher. He will also look at the newest Owl freshmen getting outfitted and moving into their dorms, including parents as they send their sons on to the next chapter of their lives. Forte will look back at the top summer conditioning performers in the Owls' preparation for the 2024 season opener.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The squad began practice slightly later than its camp practices and was more focused on unit and team sessions than individual work
- The last portion was two-minute work starting at the minus-32
- QB Cam Fancher connected with WRs Dominique Henry and Caleb Coombs to move the chains
- LB Jackson Ambush nearly hauled in an interception but did come away with a pass breakup
- S CJ Heard recorded an interception, and the defense tallied multiple sacks in the session
- WR Marlyn Johnson had a TD reception
