BATON ROUGE, La. – On Monday,
Max Sturdza will become the second Florida Atlantic men's golfer to participate in an NCAA Regional. The graduate senior earned an at-large bid to compete in Baton Rouge, La. for a chance to advance to the NCAA National Championship.
Â
Sturdza is a four-time all-conference selection and the owner of nearly every FAU men's golf record. His historic 2023-24 campaign was highlighted by his first individual victory at the Southern Invitational where his final round 63 set the mark for the lowest round in program history. He went on to finish tied for sixth at the AAC Championship. Sturdza enters postseason play at No. 128 in the official
Clippd DI rankings.
Â
The regional will consist of three days and 54 holes of stroke play at the University Club Golf Course, home of LSU's men's and women's golf teams. The field will consist of 14 teams and five individuals. The top five teams and the low individual not on one of those teams will advance to the NCAA National Championship May 24-29 at Omni Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif
Â
The University Club will play as a 7,401-yard par 72. The course was designed by LSU golf legend and major champion, David Toms, and LSU alumni Jim Lipe. The track challenges golfers' ball striking ability as it winds through the Louisiana wetlands. Â
Â
Sturdza will start on the first tee at 11:23 a.m. EST on Monday morning.
