TAMPA, Fla. – A three-run home run by
Carter Brady proved to be the difference in a 6-3 win for Florida Atlantic baseball over USF on Sunday. The win was the Owls' first Sunday road victory of the season and pulled them into fourth place in the logjammed AAC standings.
Â
The Owls (9-9 AAC)Â fell behind 1-0 in the first inning but quickly tied the game on a
Brando Leroux sacrifice fly in the second. A two-run HR by USF's Drew Brutcher in the ensuing half inning restored the Bulls' lead to 3-1. Â Â
Â
An RBI single by
Jalen DeBose in the fifth inning cut the deficit to one and set the stage for the Owls' to take their first lead in the sixth. Singles by
John Schroeder and
Christian Adams started the inning.
Carter Brady took a 1-1 pitch and belted it over the left field fence for a three-run homer. It was a lead the Owls would not relinquish. Â
Â
Steven Andrews relieved
Trey Beard and held the Bulls scoreless in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings before turning it over to
Danny Trehey. Another RBI single by DeBose in the ninth provided some insurance and Trehey shut it down in the bottom of the frame to earn the save.
