YOUNGSVILLE, La. – The No. 3-seed Florida Atlantic Sandy Owls fell just short of playing for the CUSA Championship, falling in a hard-fought 3-2 battle against the No. 5-seed Tulane Green Wave in the CUSA Championship semifinals on Saturday at Sugar Beach.
Florida Atlantic closes out the CUSA Championship at 18-19 overall, while Tulane moves to 26-13 on the season.
Ashleigh Adams and
Julie Honzovicova gave the Sandy Owls their first point of the day, capturing a straight-set win against Tulane's top pair, Trinity Jackson and Molly Trodd, 21-16, 21-12. Tulane got on the board with their first win of the day on court four.
Logan Mignerey and
Kate McLaughlin fell in a two-set battle to Tulane's Sam Green and Skylar Ensign, 21-17, 21-15. The Sandy Owls regained the lead on court two as
Courtney Moon and
Marketa Svozilova defeated the Green Wave's Sara Hall and Savka Popovic in straight sets, 21-18, 21-15. Tulane evened things once more at 2-2 after capturing another win on court three. The Sandy Owls

Olivia Strandberg fell in two sets against Tulane's Tawny Ensign and Lara Torruella, 21-19, 21-19. The Sandy Owls attempted to rally on court five, capturing set two to force a third, but Florida Atlantic eventually fell just short as
Kendall Mignerey and
Sloane Woolwine fell in a hard-fought three-set battle against Tulane's Amelia Mullen and Kenzie Cutler, 21-14, 14-21, 17-15, to close out the 3-2 match.
