MIAMI – The Florida Atlantic Owls' women's tennis team, ranked No. 58 nationally, fell Saturday afternoon to host No. 21 FIU by a score of 4-1.
The Owls opened the match strong by earning the doubles point. The
Millie-Mae Matthews and
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon duo captured court #1 by a 7-6 (7-2) score. The point was clinched on court #3 by the doubles team of
Amber McGinnis and
Carla Galmiche, who captured their court 7-5.
With Florida Atlantic holding a 1-0 lead heading into singles, FIU captured courts #1, #2, #3 and #5.
The Owls will close out the home regular season on Monday, Apr. 15 at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center. It also will be senior day for FAU's lone senior and captain
