WICHITA, Kan. – Florida Atlantic baseball hits the road for the state of Kansas on Friday to meet Wichita State for the first time in program history. The Owls and the Shockers enter the weekend tied for fourth in the American Conference at 5-4.

OWLS IN REVIEW

After earning series wins in each of the first two conference weekends against Charlotte and Memphis, the Owls dropped two of three to East Carolina and then fell to Miami in non-conference action on Tuesday.

WHO'S HOT

Jalen DeBose returned last Saturday after missing seven games due to injury. The senior has at least one hit in each of the last three games. He scored two runs on last Sunday against ECU. DeBose is hitting .296 for the season.

Danny Trehey and Steven Andrews have been the Owls' top two bullpen arms all season. The pair have combined to allow just two runs in the last 15.2 innings (10 games).

THE OPPONENT

Wichita State played two midweek games this week – a 9-5 loss to No. 21 Oklahoma State on Tuesday and a 6-3 loss to Kansas State on Wednesday. The Shockers have dropped five straight after being swept on the road by USF last weekend.

Led by senior Caden Favors and freshman Tyler Dobbs, the Shockers sport the second-best team ERA in the AAC (4.34) – just a tenth better than Florida Atlantic (4.35). Favors is 5-2 and is the projected starter for Friday's series opener.

Offensively, freshman Camden Johnson leads WSU with a .348 average. Another freshman, outfielder Lane Haworth, went 5-for-10 in the two midweek games combined.

OPPONENT HISTORY

Florida Atlantic and Wichita State have never met. The Owls have also never played a game in the state of Kansas.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Owls close out a stretch of five straight road games on Tuesday at FIU. Tulane visits Boca Raton in conference play next weekend.
