BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball will host the Maine Black Bears for a three-game series beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m. This is the final weekend non-conference series before AAC play gets underway next weekend against Charlotte.

WEEKEND PROMOTIONS

Kids 12 and under are once again invited to run the bases after the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

OWLS IN REVIEW

The Owls have won four of the last five after knocking off Miami 6-4 on Tuesday night. Last weekend, FAU took two of three against FIU including a lopsided 24-2 victory on Sunday. Sundays have been especially kind to the Owls in the last three weeks. They've scored 60 combined runs in series finale wins over Towson (16), Stonehill (20), and FIU (24).

WHO'S HOT

John Schroeder homered in all three games last weekend against FIU and nearly had two more on Tuesday against Miami. The junior flew out to the base of the wall in center before tripling off the wall to bring in a run in the sixth inning. He leads the Owls with 18 RBI and is second with a .333 average.

The Owls' pitching has been a strength through the first month of the season led by starters C.J. Williams, Trey Beard, and Tyler Murphy. The trio has combined to allow 11 earned runs in just over 43.2 innings over the last three weeks (2.27 ERA).

The bullpen has also consistently delivered when called upon. Junior Steven Andrews and seniors Danny Trehey and Braden Ostrander came through in the clutch again on Tuesday. Trehey has a 0.00 ERA in 13 innings. Andrews tossed 3.1 scoreless last Saturday against FIU and was solid for two more against Miami. Ostrander recorded the last four outs on Tuesday to earn his second save of the season.

THE OPPONENT

Maine finished 32-21 overall and 19-5 in conference play to win the America East last season. The Black Bears played in the Coral Gables Regional against Miami and Louisiana.

This season, a young Maine squad is off to a 2-11 start with wins over Bethune-Cookman and Fordham. The Black Bears have played 10 of their first 13 games in the state of Florida. They will return to Orono to begin America East play next weekend against Bryant.

OPPONENT HISTORY

The Owls and Black Bears have met 13 times previously with FAU holding a 9-4 edge. The last meeting was in 2017 when the Owls came out on top 11-3.

UPCOMING

The Owls will travel to Orlando on Tuesday for a midweek showdown with UCF before hosting Charlotte in their inaugural AAC series next weekend.
