Eight Straight for the Owls

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's tennis (8-1) earned a 4-1 road win over North Florida (4-4) Saturday morning to increase their winning streak to eight straight.
The Owls' 8-1 record is the best start since a 7-2 start in 2003 (records kept 2000-2024). The victory over the Osprey moves the all-time series record to 6-4 in favor of the Owls.
"After winning a close doubles point, the girls continued to show their hard work pays off. We showed a lot of grit today. Great job by Panna (Bartha) being the first one off the court with a solid performance and Amber [McGinnis] played a terrific third set to clinch the match."
FAU captured courts #1 and #2 to earn the best of three doubles point. With the match's first point secured, the teams moved to singles play. Panna Bartha captured court #1 6-2, 6-2 and remains perfect in collegiate play with a 9-0 record. On court #2, Victoria Gomez O'Hayon, after being down one set, came back to close out her match 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 putting the Owls within one point of victory at 3-1.
The remaining three courts all went into a third set before senior captain Amber McGinnis captured her match 2-6 6-2, 6-3 to clinch the 4-1 win for Florida Atlantic.
