BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic men's tennis team (8-3) will return home for the first time since Feb. 3 to play host to fellow American Athletic Conference member UTSA on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. The Owls were 2-1 on their latest road swing with last weekend's matches at USF being canceled due to weather.
Florida Atlantic, which is ranked No. 41 in the latest ITA poll, holds the all-time record versus UTSA at 4-2. However, the Roadrunners have won the last two meetings, including a 4-3 decision in the C-USA semifinals last April.
Florida Atlantic is led by Juan Martin Jalif, who enters the weekend with a 7-1 record playing primarily on court four. Fellow transfer John Bernard is 6-1 in dual match competition and has split time between courts five and six. Alberto Colas is 7-2 on court #1 while both Mark Havlicek and Jiri Jenick hold records of 6-4.
Doubles play has been key to the Owls' 2024 success. The duo of Juan Martin Jalif and Albert Colas are 6-2 on the year while the team of Jiri Jenicek and Simon Myslivec are 6-3. Last weekend, FAU experimented with a new doubles lineup and had similar success.
When combining singles and doubles records Juan Martin Jalif is 13-3, Alberto Colas is 13-4, and Jiri Jenicek is 14-7.
