Two Conferences, Same Goal

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming and diving teams are ready for their respective conference championships. The men's team will compete in their first Atlantic Sun Championship from Wednesday, Feb. 21 through Saturday, Feb. 24, held in Knoxville, Tennessee. Meanwhile, the women take on their second American Athletic Conference Championship in Dallas from Thursday, Feb. 22 to Sunday, Feb. 25.
Following a successful regular season that saw a sweep in their midseason invite, the Owls look to carry over their momentum in conference play.

Owls at 2023 Conference
Men
- The men's team were runners-up in their final CCSA Championship Appearance scoring 795 points
- Brandon Shepherd was named Most Outstanding Diver of the Meet after winning gold medals in both the 1-meter (336.30) and 3-meter (300.55)
- Dalton Lillibridge set the Florida Atlantic program record in the 100 breast (53.78) This has since been broken by himself)
- Nick Shaffer broke school records in both the 200 IM (1:46.82) and 400 IM (3:48.79)
- Logan Thornsberry captured the silver medal in the 500 free (4:27.82) as well as 1650 free (15:31.42)
Women
- In their first AAC competition, the Owls won medals right off the bat, with Alicia Mora tallying the bronze in both the 3-meter (312.40) and 1-meter dives (287.50)
- Amelia Robertson won a bronze medal herself in the 200 back (1:58.66) and set a Florida Atlantic freshman record in the process
- Lydia Lanahan qualified for the 50 free finals, finishing with a time of 23.59
- Maggie Casey swam for a time of 5:00.18 in the 500 free finals
- Lauren Wright earned a spot in the 100 fly finals, finishing with a time of 55.40
Regular Season Recap
Men
- The men's team won six out of their eight competitions
- Most notably was the first place finish out of eight teams in the Patriot Invitational with 1,059 points
- The team also earned first place out of six teams in the TYR Fall Classic, scoring 527 points
- Lillibridge set the new school-best mark in the 100 breast (53.42) at the Patriot Invite
- Also at the Patriot Invite was a broken record in the 200 medley relay team where Peyton Ming, Dalton Lillbridge, Jackson Kirk, and Peyton Ming combined for a time of 1:26.74
- Nine weekly awards have been given to the Owls, spread amongst five different athletes: divers Brandon Shepherd and Trevor Kuhn (twice each), Ming (twice), Lillbridge, Timo Paisley, and Rubin
Women
- Riley Trout has had her hand in three new program records: the 100 back (54.35) as well as being a member of the 400 medley (3:41.47) and 200 medley (1:39.92) relay teams
- The record breaking 400 medley relay team also included Izzy Jones, Bilu Bianchi, and Dolores Margni. The 200 medley relay team consisted of Trout, Bianchi, Jones, and Lauren Wright
- As a freshman, Jones set the school record in the 50 free (22.88) at the Patriot Invite
- Fresh off her first NCAA appearance, Alicia Mora earned three AAC Diver of the Week awards
On Deck
Following the conclusion of their respective conference championships, the 2023-24 season will not end just yet. Select Owls will compete in their second National Invitational Championships, held from Thursday, Mar. 14 – Saturday, Mar. 16 in Ocala, Florida. Divers are set for the Diving B Zone Championships taking place from Mar. 11 to Mar. 16. The 2024 NCAA Championships are scheduled from Mar. 20 - 23 for men and Mar. 27 – 30 for women.Owls on Social Media
