Adams, Svozilova Named CUSA November Pair of the Month

BOCA RATON, Fla. – After capturing the AVCA East Qualifier Championship and finishing tied for 13th at the AVCA Fall National Championships, Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova were named the Conference USA November Pair of the Month, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova had a tremendous month in November, capturing the AVCA East Coast Qualifier Championship and tying for 13th at the AVCA Fall Beach National Championships.
The No. 1-seeded Adams and Svozilova earned six straight sweeps to win the championship. The duo opened the weekend on Saturday with a sweep over No. 23-seed USF's Isabella Almeida and Alyx Zapatka, 21-12, 21-14, No. 12-seed Stetson's Julia Czurylo and Hanna Gubik, 21-19, 21-14, before finishing the day with a sweep of No. 14-seed FIU's Brianna Luoma and Sophia Vogel, 21-19, 21-17. Adams and Svozilova continued their impressive weekend on Sunday with another sweep over No. 12-seed Julia Czurylo and Hanna Gubik of Stetson, 21-17, 21-15, fellow teammates No. 4-seed Julie Honzovicova and Kate McLaughlin, 21-15, 21-11 and earning an impressive and dominant win over No. 7-seed North Florida's Presley Murray and Taylor Pierce, 21-11, 21-13, in the championship match.
The No. 2-seeded Adams and Svozilova finished tied for 13th nationally at the AVCA Fall Beach National Championships last month. The pair opened the championships on Friday, going 2-0 in pool play with a pair of sweeps over No. 63-seed CMU's Ellie Ask and Barett Nolan, 21-13, 21-8, and No. 31-seed UAB's Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant, 21-15, 21-16, advancing to the champions bracket. The duo then earned a first-round champions bracket win over No. 38-seed Hawaii's Sarah Burton and Caprice Lorenzo, 18-21, 21-11, 15-9. Adams and Svozilova fell in two sets against No. 8 Stanford's Brooke Rockwell and Ruby Sorra, 16-21, 13-21, to close out play on Saturday, placing them in the 9th-place bracket. On Sunday, the duo fell against No. 17 Arizona State's Daniella Kensinger and Ava Williamson 18-21, 21-23, to finish the championship tied for 13th.
