BOCA RATON, Fla. – Leading the Owls to a four-set win over Tulane and securing the No. 6-seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament this past weekend,
Kaila Ru was recognized as AAC honorable mention, announced by the league office on Monday.
The recognition marks the second weekly honor for Ru this season and her second career honorable mention nod, after earning AAC honor roll last season.
Kaila Ru was a significant offensive and defensive contributor for the Owls this week against UAB and Tulane. Ru tallied 16 kills and a team-leading 10 blocks, including four solo, to go along with three digs and an assist over the Owls' two matches. Against UAB, Ru recorded six kills, six blocks, a dig, and an assist. She then finished the week with 10 kills, four blocks, and a pair of digs in the Owls' four-set win against Tulane.
The Florida Atlantic Owls will open up postseason play on Friday, Nov. 22 in the American Athletic Conference Tournament. The Owls are set for a quarterfinal matchup against No. 3-seed East Carolina. First serve is set for 11 a.m. ET inside Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas.
