SAN ANTONIO – Florida Atlantic's women's soccer team fell to UTSA by a 2-1 score in the last match of the 2024 season.
The Owls move to 3-11-4, 2-6-2 AAC. This marked the second time these two teams have faced each other since entering the American Athletic Conference. Florida Atlantic moves to 2-3-4 against the Roadrunners in program history.
Florida Atlantic went with the same starting XI as the last five matches. In the first 45 minutes, the score remained 0-0. The Roadrunners registered six shots in the first half, with four of them being on goal. Captain
Lexi Gonzalez tallied four saves before halftime.
With less than 15 minutes into the second half, freshman
Sutton Markee scored her first collegiate goal in her home state to take the lead and put the Owls on the board. UTSA responded with the equalizer in the 66th minute. With a couple of minutes left in the match, the Roadrunners scored to take the lead. Gonzalez ended the night with eight saves to improve her season total to 60 on the year.
