BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls fell in three sets, 3-0 (19-25, 12-25, 20-25), on the road at East Carolina on Friday at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
The Owls fall to 12-9 on the season and 4-5 in AAC play, while East Carolina moves to 14-6 overall and 7-3 in conference play.
East Carolina took the early lead, opening the match on a 10-6 run to spark a Florida Atlantic timeout. The Owls called their second timeout of the opening set, trailing 18-5. Out of the timeout, Florida Atlantic started to mount a comeback, closing the gap to just five after a 10-2 run, 20-15. The Owls rally just wasn't enough as the Pirates eventually closed the set 25-19 to take the opening 1-0 lead.
The Pirates took the opening lead in set two, opening the frame on an 8-1 run. The Owls closed the deficit to six, making it 12-6, but they just couldn't find an answer to East Carolina as the Pirates took the second 25-12 to hold the two-set advantage.
The Owls came out hot to open the third, producing a 12-5 run to open the set. Florida Atlantic continued to hold a 13-7 lead until East Carolina scored 10 unanswered points to battle back and take its first lead of the set, 17-13. The Owls closed the deficit to three at 23-20, but it just wasn't enough as East Carolina eventually took the three-set match, 25-20.

- Rosado, Katelynn Robine, and Kaila Ru all tied for a team-high eight kills
- Rosado and Victoria Hensley tied for a team-leading 14 digs
- Hensley also led the Owls in assists, dishing out 27 against the Pirates
- Ru posted a team-high two blocks
The Owls will look to bounce back on Sunday as they head to Charlotte, N.C. to take on the Charlotte 49ers. First serve is set for 12 p.m. ET.
