BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic volleyball is prepped for a big weekend in Paradise as the Owls get ready to host the No. 2-ranked Rice Owls on Friday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. and the No. 1-ranked South Florida Bulls on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
- Florida Atlantic enters this weekend at 10-8 overall and 2-4 in AAC play. The Owls are looking to snap a three-game skid after falling against Temple, Tulsa, and Wichita State.
- As a team, the Owls lead the AAC in kills (924), assists (870), and attacks (2,520), second in digs (1,093), and third in assists per set (12.43), digs per set (15.61), kills per set (13.20), attacks per set (36), and opponent hitting percentage (.193).
- The Owls' offensive leaders are Katelynn Robine and Valeria Rosado. Robine leads the Owls, averaging 3.01 kills per set, followed by Rosado, tallying 2.81 kills per set.
- Rosado leads the Owls' back row with a team-best 2.68 digs per set, while Isabelle Northam ranks second on the team with 2.40 digs per set.
- Victoria Hensley leads the Owls and the AAC in assists this season, tallying 749 assists and averaging an impressive 10.70 assists per set.
- Kaila Ru is the Owls' blocking leader with 1.33 blocks per set, while Madison Dyer ranks second on the team in blocks, averaging 0.70 blocks per set this season.
- The Rice Owls enter Friday's matchup at 11-5 overall and 6-1 in league play after just falling in their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday against league-leader South Florida.
- As a team, Rice ranks second in the AAC in assists per set (12.47), digs per set (16.86), kills per set (13.41), attacks per set (36.91), and fourth in hitting percentage (.222).
- Rice's offense is led by Cindy Tchouangwa, boasting a team-best 3.36 kills per set this season, while Samarah Hill and Lademi Ogunlana rank second and third for the Owls, averaging 2.89 and 2.35 kills per set, respectively.
- The Owls' assists leader is Savannah Skopal, dishing out 527 assists and averaging 9.09 assists per set this season.
- Defensively, Rice's back row is led by Gaby Mansfield, Darby Harris, and Nia McCardell, averaging 3.29, 3.26, and 3.25 digs per set, respectively. At the net, the Owls are led by Ogunlana and Kaitlyn Knobbe, averaging 0.94 and 0.77 blocks per set, respectively.
- South Florida currently leads the American Athletic Conference at 11-7 overall and is the only undefeated team remaining at 7-0 in AAC play. The Bulls enter Sunday's matchup on a seven-match winning streak.
- As a team, the Bulls lead the AAC in kills per set (13.79) and assists per set (12.98), second in hitting percentage (.242), assists (857), and kills (910), and fourth in winning percentage (.611).
- The Bulls offense is led by conference leader Maria Clara Andrade, who is averaging a team-leading 4.29 kills per set, followed by Naiya Sawtelle, who ranks second on the team with 3.38 kills per set.
- Caroline Dykes leads the Bulls in assists with 716 assists, averaging 10.85 assists per set.
- Defensively, Lia Schneider leads the Bulls in digs, averaging 3.98 digs per set, while Tizi Puljiz and Imani Hartfield lead South Florida at the net, tallying 0.67 and 0.65 blocks per set, respectively.
- Following this weekend's matches, the Owls will head to North Carolina to face East Carolina on Oct. 25 and Charlotte on Oct. 27.
