BOCA RATON, Fla. – After falling 2-1 in doubles play, the Florida Atlantic women's tennis team surrendered the doubles point before taking control of the singles courts for the 5-2 victory over in-state foe FGCU on Sunday afternoon.

Doubles play was tight with all eyes turning to court three for the decider, which FAU ultimately (2-1) lost in a tiebreaker. The Eagles (0-3) earned the point, but it was the Owls who captured the momentum. Victoria Gomez O'Hayon tied the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win on court two. FGCU would take the brief lead once again before Amber McGinnis tied the match once more at 2-2, with a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 victory. FAU then secured the match with Lexi Silna and Panna Bartha's wins on courts four and one, respectively. Millie-Mae Matthews would win a third set 10 point set for the match's 5-2 final.

With the win, the Owls move to 2-1 and will play host to Georgia Stata at noon on Saturday, Feb. 3.
