BOCA RATON, Fla. - A weekend of tennis is on tap for Florida Atlantic's women's tennis team (0-1). The Owls will play host to Stetson (1-0) on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. and will then serve as host to FGCU (0-2) on Sunday, Jan. 28 at noon. Both matches will be played at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center.
FAU tried opening the year on the road but was unable to play either match due to weather. The Owls then returned home to open the year at home and will host the next four matches in Paradise. In fact, Florida Atlantic tennis fans will have multiple opportunities to catch the Owls in action this season with a total of 16 matches scheduled within the state of Florida, 13 played at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center. FAU is currently on a five-match home stand.
The first match saw freshman
Panna Bartha take college tennis by storm with a 6-2, 6-3 court one victory.
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon, a 10-match winner in 2023, won court two 6-4, 6-4. Both Bartha and O'Hayon were victorious in their doubles matches, respectively, to earn be a part of collecting all three points in the match.
The all-time series with Stetson stands at 10-7 for the Hatters; however, FAU is on a three-match winning streak versus Stetson, their longest, and earned the last win in 2018 by a 4-3 margin. The series versus FGCU is tied at 8-8. The Eagles captured the last outing played on February 10, 2023 by a 4-2 margin, played in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Owls will host Georgia State on Friday, Feb. 3 and DePaul on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. All schedules are subject to change.
