BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's soccer remained unbeaten at home with a 1-0 victory over Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday night. The win was
Patrick Baker's 99th as head coach of the Owls. Â
Â
FGCU controlled possession in the first half but Owls' goalkeeper
Blythe Braun was there to weather the storm. Braun made six saves in the opening 45 minutes to keep the match deadlocked going into intermission.
Â
The script was flipped in the second half. The Owls' attack turned up the pressure on the Eagles' backline. It paid off in the 51st minute. Olvia Bori and
Daniella Diaz played a one-two down the right side. Diaz sent a cross into the box where
Elin Simonardottir found just enough space to get a head to it and redirect it into the far corner.
Â
The Iceland native's team-leading fourth goal of the season held up as the winner as the FAU defense locked things down. After the busy start, Braun needed just one save clean sheet.in the second half to earn the clean sheet.

Â
The Owls welcome the Tennessee Volunteers to town on Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. kickoff. Â Â
