DeLand, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's soccer erased an early deficit but a last-minute goal from Stetson was ultimately the difference in a 4-3 defeat on Tuesday night.
Stetson scored first in the 24th minute and doubled the lead 12 minutes after that. The Owls received a shot of life just before halftime though when a foul in the Hatters' penalty area led to a Tom Abrahamsson PK. The fifth-year senior converted the spot kick to send the visitors into intermission down 2-1.
The Owls scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the second half to take a 3-2 lead. Noah Kvifte tied the game in the 50th minute off an assist from Moller-Jensen. Zach Hassell's first goal of the season in the 60th minute put the Owls on top for the first time.
Stetson would have its own opportunity from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute and they would convert to tie it again. The Hatters would grab the go-ahead goal with just 1:06 left on the clock to steal a 4-3 final.
Rotem Fadida finished with five saves in goal for the Owls. Stetson recorded 17 shot attempts compared to 15 for FAU (9-7 on goal in favor of the home side).
