Owls Begin Conference Season on Saturday Night

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's soccer (1-1-3) welcomes Tulsa (2-2-1) to town on Saturday for the first American Athletic Conference match of the 2023 season.

About the Owls

The Owls are coming off a 1-1 draw against UNF on Tuesday morning. The match was originally scheduled for Monday night but persistent lightning in the Jacksonville area forced the postponement until 9:30 a.m. the following day.
UNF scored first in the 51st minute but Noah Kvifte tied it six minutes later with his third of the season
The trip to Jacksonville saw two more newcomers make their FAU debuts. On Friday, freshman Jamie Howell made a brief three-minute cameo. He added another 21-minute run-out on Tuesday. Jozo Cancar also saw his first minutes of the season on Tuesday. Returners Andreas Raisanen and Zach Hassell made their season debuts against Jacksonville as well.
The Owls have played at home just once so far this season and after Saturday it will be another 13 days before they do so again. Road tests at Stetson and Charlotte are on the schedule for next week.

About the Golden Hurricanes

Tulsa is 2-2-1 and coming off a 4-3 win over Drake at home last Saturday
They finished fourth in the American last season but still qualified as an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament
After a double overtime win over Georgetown, the Golden Hurricanes' season ended with a 2-1 loss to Creighton
Malik Henry-Scott leads UT this season with four goals, two of which came in the win over Drake

Series History

Tulsa won last year's meeting 3-0 and leads the all-time series 2-0

What's Next

The Owls head out on another two-match road trip starting Tuesday at Stetson (non-conference). AAC play resumes on Sept. 24 at Charlotte.
The Owls return home Sept. 29 against Memphis.
