BOCA RATON, Fla. – Midfielder
Morgan McDonald, forward
Mia Sennes, and defender
Jodi Smith have been selected to represent Florida Atlantic women's soccer on the American Athletic Conference preseason watch list, the league announced on Monday.
Â
Smith proved herself as backbone of the Owls' defense in 2022. Not only did she start all 22 games – she rarely came off the field. The junior played 1,840 of a possible 2,000 minutes. The Pembroke Pines native was a major reason for the Owls' nine clean sheets.
Â
In her third full season, Sennes played in a career high 21 matches, starting 14 times. She tallied three goals and added four assists.Â
Â
McDonald made a sizeable contribution as a freshman in 2022, starting 19 of 22 games. She scored twice, including once in the C-USA Championship game against UTSA. The St. John's Fla. product earned a spot on the C-USA All-Freshman team.
"We are very excited for Mia, Jodi and Morgan to be recognized on the AAC Women's Soccer Watch List," noted head women's soccer coach
Patrick Baker. "Each of these young ladies have enjoyed individual success here at FAU and all three are poised for very productive seasons. We have enjoyed the pre-season and excited to get the regular season underway on Thursday."Â
Â
The AAC also released its preseason coaches' poll where the Owls were picked third in the East Division behind USF and UAB. For the full release from the AAC visit
