Florida Atlantic sweeps C-USA postseason awards

DALLAS – No. 12 Florida Atlantic beach volleyball swept the 2023 Conference USA postseason awards, receiving seven C-USA postseason accolades, including C-USA Coach of the Year, C-USA Pair of the Year, C-USA Co-Freshman of the Year, two C-USA All-Conference First Team Pairs, and two C-USA All-Freshman Team honorees. The honors marked the most by any team in the conference.

C-USA All-Freshman Team: Ashleigh Adams and Emma Grace Robertson
Head Coach Steve Grotowski was named the C-USA Coach of the Year, after being named the national assistant coach of the year last season. Grotowski led the Sandy Owls to their second conference championship and first C-USA title in program history, as well as helping lead Florida Atlantic to its second every NCAA Championship appearance in 2023.
Jillienne Cloud and Julie Honzovicova were named C-USA Pair of the Year and C-USA All-Conference First Team after producing an impressive 9-1 record in 2023, including a nine-match winning streak and a perfect 3-0 record during the C-USA Tournament, in addition to earning wins over No. 3 Florida State, No. 18 Stetson, and two wins over No. 12 FIU. Cloud and Honzovicova are also individually the Sandy Owls best players this season. Cloud boasts a team and career-best 24-8 record, including a season-best 11 wins (11-6) on court three, 8-1 record on court two, 3-1 record on court one, and 2-0 mark on court four. Honzovicova ranks second on the team with a career-best 24-9 record, including a 9-3 record on court one, career-best 13-5 record on court two, and a 2-1 record on court three. Honzovicova earned CUSA Pair of the Week honors on March 8, while Cloud was named C-USA Pair of the Week on March 22.
Ashleigh Adams was named C-USA Co-Freshman of the Year after producing a 20-12 overall record in 2023, including a season-best 7-5 record on court two and a 6-2 record for court one wins. As a pair, Adams has a season-best 15-7 record teamed up with Julie Honzovicova, and a 5-4 record paired with Emma Grace Robertson. Adams earned ranked wins against No. 15 Stetson, No. 14 FIU, No. 17 Stetson, No. 7 LMU, No. 18 Stetson, and defeated No. 12 FIU twice. She also earned her first career weekly honor on March 8 when she was named C-USA Pair of the Week.
Christine Jarman and Ellie were named C-USA All-Conference First Team after producing a 14-14 record during the 2023 season, including an impressive 9-2 record on court two and going 2-0 during the C-USA Tournament. The duo earned wins against No. 7 Stanford, No. 14 FIU, and No. 18 Stetson. Individually, Jarman holds a 15-17 record, while Austin has a 13-14 mark, including a season-best 9-2 record in court two wins, during the 2023 season.
Emma Grace Robertson was named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team after producing a team third-best 21-11 record, including a season-best 12-7 mark on court three, a 6-3 record on court four, a 2-1 mark on court two, and a 1-0 record on court five. As a pair, Robertson boasts a career-best 15-7 record with Jillienne Cloud, in addition to going 5-4 paired up with Ashleigh Adams, and 1-0 teamed up with Sydney Schroder. Emma Grace Robertson earned ranked wins this season against No. 15 Stetson, No. 7 Stanford, No. 2 USC, No. 14 FIU, No. 17 Stetson, No. 18 Stetson, and two vs. No. 12 FIU. Robertson also received her first collegiate weekly honor on March 22, earning C-USA Pair of the Week honors.
