TEXARKANA, Ark. – The Florida Atlantic men's golf team is set to begin postseason play when it competes at the 2023 Conference USA Championship this week. The tournament will consist of three rounds of stroke play from Monday-Wednesday. The top four teams then advance to match play on Thursday. A champion will be crowned in the finals on Friday. The tournament will be contested at the par 72, 6,969-yard Texarkana Country Club for the ninth consecutive year.
In 2022, Florida Atlantic finished at the top of the leaderboard in the stroke play portion of the tournament, advancing to match play as the number one seed.
Max Sturdza was the stroke play runner-up, just one shot back of Middle Tennessee's Michael Barnard. The Owls would eventually be downed by the four-seed Charlotte in the match play semifinals.
- The Owls are led by senior Max Sturdza in the number one spot.
- After missing the first two events of the spring with an injury, the Geneva, Switzerland native has been the Owls' low man in scoring in each of the last four events.
- Sturdza tied for 31st in this event in 2021 before his runner-up finish last season.
- Alex Maguire carries the second-best scoring average in the FAU lineup at 72.59.
- This is also Maguire's third run at the C-USA Championship.
- Juan Delgado will be in the two spot in the Owls' lineup this week. Delgado holds a 74.70 scoring average.
- Newcomer Jack Wehle (75.25 scoring average) has played in all nine events this season for the Owls.
- Guilherme Grinberg tied for seventh at last year's C-USA Championship. His 73.90 scoring average is third-best on the Owls' roster.
