BOCA RATON, Fla. – No. 15 Florida Atlantic beach volleyball (14-12, 1-0 C-USA) will close out the regular season this weekend, hosting the Battle of the Beach Burrow for senior day on Saturday, April 15.
This weekend's field includes the Sandy Owls south Florida rival, No. 12 FIU (16-14, 0-1 C-USA), as well as No. 18 Stetson (16-13), and St. Thomas (2-6, 1-1 Sun Conference). Florida Atlantic's senior day ceremony will also follow the Sandy Owls' 9:30 a.m. match.
Florida Atlantic will open up the weekend at 9:30 a.m. against No. 18 Stetson, followed by the Sandy Owls senior day ceremony. FAU trails Stetson 8-12 in the all-time series against the Hatters. The Sandy Owls will then take on No. 12 FIU at 2 p.m., before closing out the Battle of the Beach Burrow in Florida Atlantic's regular season finale at 4:30 p.m. against St. Thomas. Against FIU, the Sandy Owls trail the all-time series 4-17 against the Panthers. Earlier this season, FAU won a 3-2 battle against then No. 14 FIU on March 18. Against St. Thomas, this weekend will mark the first ever match between the Sandy Owls and the Bobcats.
Following this weekend's regular season finale, the Sandy Owls will begin preparing for postseason play as they get ready to compete in the C-USA Championships on April 27-29 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the Fort Lauderdale Beach Park.
