FAU Runs into a Tough Maryland Team

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team (8-12) ran into a Maryland team happy to be in the sunshine and sporting an 12-3 record. The Owls picked up the match's first two points, but ultimately fell to the Terrapins, 4-2.

FAU captured the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Court three was trending towards Maryland but was abandoned because the point had been clinched.

Senior Owl Martina Schmidt quickly added a point for the Owls with a 6-1, 7-5 win on court one. Maryland then evened the match at 2-2 and then went up 3-2 with a court four win. With two matches remaining it was anyone's match. Maryland grabbed court six in three sets to clinch the win while court five went into the books as unfinished.
