No. 14 Florida Atlantic returns to DeLand this weekend for the Stetson Beach Invitational

BOCA RATON, Fla. – No. 14 Florida Atlantic beach volleyball (9-7) returns to DeLand, Florida this weekend for their second tournament of the season as the Sandy Owls compete in the Stetson Beach Invitational on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25.

In addition to the Sandy Owls, the tournament field consists of Coastal Carolina, North Alabama, FGCU, and host No. 17 Stetson.

The Sandy Owls are just coming off a 2-2 weekend that saw them earn their second 4-1 victory of the season against FGCU and their first ranked win of the season against rival then-No. 14 FIU, 3-2.

The Sandy Owls open the weekend on Friday at 12 p.m. against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Florida Atlantic leads the all-time series against Coastal Carolina, 2-0. The Sandy Owls will then wrap up opening day with a dual against North Alabama at 4 p.m.

Florida Atlantic will then take on No. 17 Stetson for a 10 a.m. first serve to open play on day two. The Sandy Owls trail the all-time series against the Hatters, 7-12. Florida Atlantic close out the weekend facing off against the FGCU Eagles for the third time this season in the Sandy Owls' Stetson Beach Invitational finale at 4 p.m. The Sandy Owls lead the all-time series against the Eagles, 12-3, including a pair of 4-1 victories this season.

After this weekend, Florida Atlantic will head to Tallahassee, Florida on April 7 & 8 to compete in the Unconquered Invitational, hosted by Florida State.
