Furman and Rice Prior to Nine Match Home Stand

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team has reached the midway point of the 2023 schedule and the Owls have just two more road matches this weekend before they open a nine match home stand.
FAU will first travel to Greenville, S.C. where they will face Furman on Friday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. FAU will then head to Houston, Texas to face Conference USA foe Rice on Sunday, Feb. 19 at noon.
The Owls will enter the Furman match with a 3-7 record and are facing Furman for just the second time in program history. Furman won the first meeting 6-0 back on March 11, 2010. FAU also will be looking for their first win over Rice. The Rice Owls hold the all-time series at 3-0 with the last meeting falling 4-0 to Rice in the C-USA Tournament, a year ago.
Sophomore Millie-Mae Matthews holds a 7-2 record in 2023 and has proven to be a force to defeat holding a career 20-9 dual match mark. Senior Martina Kudelova is 4-4, playing her fifth season and holds more games played as an Owl than any other player in the program's history. On the doubles courts, Lexi Silna and Victoria Gomez O'Hayon are the team to beat, entering the weekend with a 4-4 record.

The Owls will open a nine match home stand on Friday, Mar. 3 versus South Alabama, at 10 a.m. and will then play host to LIU on Monday, March 6 at 11 a.m.
