Owls Set for AAC Semifinal Versus Charlotte

DALLAS – Sixth-seeded Florida Atlantic men's soccer (6-7-3, 3-5 AAC) meets second-seeded Charlotte (10-3-1, 6-2 AAC) in the American Athletic Conference semifinals on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. EST. No. 1 SMU hosts No. 4 Memphis on the other side of the bracket.

About the Owls

The Owls knocked off FIU 1-0 in the quarterfinals when Noah Kvifte scored the game's only goal with just five seconds left in regulation.
FAU now has back-to-back wins over FIU for the first time in program history.
Goalkeeper Rotem Fadida earned his fourth clean sheet of the season.
Fadida has played every minute of every game in 2023. He led the AAC in saves and saves per game in the regular season.
If he's named to the starting 11 on Thursday as expected, graduate senior Tom Abrahamsson will tie Stephan Johansson (1996-99) and Thomas Nygards (1995-98) for the program record with the 71st start of his career.
The Owls are looking to reach a conference title game for the third time in program history (2007 won the Atlantic Conference Tournament, 2021 lost to No. 15 Kentucky in C-USA Championship)

About the 49ers

As the two-seed, Charlotte received a first-round bye.
The 49ers closed the regular season last week with a 1-0 win over Memphis.
Filip Jauk leads the 49ers with five goals.
CLT scored three second half goals to defeat the Owls 3-0 in late September.

Series History

The Owls defeated the 49ers in PKs in the 2021 C-USA Quarterfinals – the first and only time the two sides have met in the postseason.
