BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's basketball (1-1) is back in Paradise as the Owls open up their 2023-24 home slate on Friday, Nov. 17, hosting the Chicago State Cougars (0-4) for an 8 p.m. tipoff inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
- The Owls enter their home-opening weekend at 1-1 so far this season, earning their first win this past Monday in an overtime victory against the North Florida Ospreys, 84-75.
- The Owls return eight from the 2022-23 squad, including five starters from a season ago, while also adding six new faces for the new season, highlighted by three transfers and three true freshmen.
- Through the Owls first two games, Aniya Hubbard leads the Owls and the AAC with an impressive 26 points per game to start the season. She's averaging an incredible 54 percent from the field and 43 percent from 3-point range, while also posting a team third-best 13 rebounds, averaging 6.5 per game, and dishing out five assists and grabbing a steal.
- Janeta Rozentale and Jada Moore lead the Owls on the glass, collecting a team-leading 14 rebounds, averaging 7.0 per contest.
- Moore also leads the Owls in steals, collecting four and averaging 2.0 per contest.
- The Owls assists leader is Devyn Scott, who has dished out a team-best 10 assists, averaging 5.0 per game so far this season.
- Chicago State enters Friday's contest at 0-4 overall and are just coming off an 85-56 loss at Ball State
- The Cougars are led by Tae'lor Willard and Jacia Cunningham, who are both averaging 10 points per game. Willard is shooting a team-leading .455 from 3-point range and .364 from the floor.
- Willard also leads the Cougars in steals, grabbing five so far this season.
- Ana Haklicka is Chicago State's assists leader, dishing out 12 assists, averaging 3.0 per contest this season.
- On the glass, the Cougars are led by Josie Hill, who had pulled down a team-leading 25 boards, averaging 6.3 per contest through Chicago State's first four contests.
- The Owls lead the all-time series against Chicago State, 1-0, earning their first victory against the Cougars last season, 73-56, on Dec. 19, 2022, in Chicago.
- The Owls will remain at home as they host the Stetson Hatters on Monday, Nov. 20. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
