DALLAS – Florida Atlantic men's soccer dropped to 2-4 in the AAC on Saturday night after a 3-0 defeat at the hands of No. 6 SMU.
The Mustangs took the lead in the 12th minute and then doubled the advantage in the 32nd. The Owls felt hard done on the second goal. Off an FAU corner, SMU cleared the ball long.
Tom Abrahamsson and the Mustangs' Jelldrik Dallman engaged in a footrace to the loose ball with Dallman knocking Abrahamsson off his feet in the process. No foul was given, however, and Dallman walked in alone on the Owls' goal, sidestepped
Rotem Fadida, and slotted home to make it 2-0.
SMU would add another goal 10 minutes into the second half to complete the scoring for the night. They outshot the Owls 17-4 (6-1 SOG). Fadida finished with five saves.
The Owls will play the next two at home – next Friday against FIU and the following Tuesday against Florida Gulf Coast.
