Men’s Soccer Continues Homestand Against Stetson

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team continues a three-game homestand on Wednesday when they host Stetson University at 6 pm.
ABOUT THE OWLS
- The Owls will be looking for win number one on Wednesday but dating back to 2019 they've been stingy at home
- In the last three seasons, FAU is 9-2-2 against non-conference opponents at home
- The Owls were 7-2-2 in weekday games last season
- This will be the first of 10 weekday matches this season – the majority of which will be Fridays
- On Monday, Victor Claudel became the first player in school history to earn a place on the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll
LAST TIME OUT
- The Owls drew with Lynn 2-2
- FAU led 2-0 with 30 minutes to play before a red card brought them down to 10 men
- Claudel scored both goals for the Owls – the transfer from USF scored five goals in 34 career games with the Bulls in the last three seasons
- Neil Strauber made five saves in goal for the Owls
ABOUT THE HATTERS
- Stetson opened its season with a 0-0 draw against Wright State last Thursday
- The Hatters were scheduled to play Detroit Mercy on Sunday but were rained out
- The Hatters' top three goal scorers from 2021 are no longer with the program
- Junior Lewis Scattergood is back after posting four goals last season
- SU also lost goalkeeper Jacob Gruber (four shutouts in 2021)
- RS junior GK Jack Owen made the start against Wright State and finished with seven saves
- This is head coach Emmett Rutkowski's second season in charge
- Stetson finished 8-7-2 in 2021 and lost in the ASUN semifinals
MATCH HISTORY
- FAU and Stetson have met 41 times with the Owls holding a 23-15-3 advantage
- The Hatters won 1-0 in DeLand last season after the Owls produced the opposite result in Boca Raton in February 2021
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Owls will welcome Lipscomb to town on Saturday night for a 7 pm kickoff
- The Bison are 2-0 and coming off a win over No. 10 Saint Louis on Sunday
- Then its on to upstate New York for matchups with Army and Marist
- The Owls return home on September 16 to start AAC play against USF
