FAU Pounds Seven Home Runs in 19-6 Win
3/8/2022 11:56:00 PM | Baseball
FAU was credited with 11 extra base hits on Tuesday with Jalen DeBose recording two doubles and Gabriel Rincones, Jr. absolutely mashing a ball to right in his first at bat. It was the first of two Rincones, Jr. would hit on the day, and he added a double. Collectively, the duo would combine for six of the team's 19 RBI and Jake Millan would add three with his first collegiate hit, a three-run homer.
"These games [played at a neutral site] are unnerving because it is such a departure from what we do every day. We got on the bus for three hours. We got out and took BP at one place. Got back on the bus. Drove to another field and a facility that we are not used to and dealt with the elements – talk about windy. I thought the guys were able to handle it well. We were able to make them chase us and tack on runs as the game went on. Gabe Rincones had a great day. Jackson Ross chipped in with his first home run. Jake Millan got his first home run. Caleb [Pendleton] got his first home run of the year. Dylan Goldstein hit one and [Tyler] Kelder hit one, which was good to see. He had been out of the lineup a couple of game with injury-type stuff. It was good to see him in there and then the pitchers held up. I thought we did a nice job under different conditions than what we are used to."
- Del Prado threw five innings, gave up five runs on seven hits and struck out a season high six
- Max Martzolf tossed two innings, gave up just one hit and struck out four
- Hayden Compton pitched a scoreless eighth and Shane Magrann continued his efforts to help the pitching staff by tossing the ninth. Magrann gave up the final Seton Hall run of the game
- The Owls tallied 20 hits
- Rincones was 3-for-5 with four runs score, a double, two home runs and had four RBI
- Kelder was 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs scored and his third home run of the season
- Dylan Goldstein hit his third home run while Ross, Pendleton and Millan all had their first homer runs of 2022. Millan was credited with three RBI
