BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team (14-7) will welcome crosstown rival Miami to the FAU Baseball Stadium on Wednesday at 6:30 pm. The Owls will be looking for a measure of redemption after falling to the Hurricanes in Coral Gables earlier in the season.
Gates will open early at 4 pm and all fans will receive a one-of-a-kind LED foam light stick glow baton.
The Owls got back on track on Sunday afternoon with a win in the series finale against Southern Miss. FAU received 14 hits from the offense plus six solid innings of relief work from
Jacob Josey to earn a 7-3 victory.
Nolan Schanuel went 4-for-4 at the plate and finished the four-game week with a .733 average (11-15) including three home runs and six RBI.
Miami is 13-6 and coming off a series win over Clemson this past weekend. The Hurricanes are led offensively by sophomore first baseman CJ Kayfus, who is hitting .351 with two home runs and 19 RBI. On the mound, Jake Garland will make his fifth start of the season for Miami. He went four innings and allowed one run on two hits in his last start on March 16 against UCF.
FAU –
Nicholas Del Prado (RHP) (1-1, 7.80 ERA) vs. Miami – Jake Garland (RHP) (2-1, 1.96 ERA)
This is the second meeting of the season between the Owls and Hurricanes. Miami won the first meeting 9-1 in Coral Gables back on Feb. 23. The two sides have split the last six matchups dating back to April 2019.
