BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University's women's tennis team will open a seven match home stand on Thursday morning, when the Owls play host to South Alabama at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center on FAU's Boca Raton campus. FAU will then play host to Temple at 10 a.m. this Saturday.
The Owls come into the USA match after winning their last two and holding a 5-6 record on the season. South Alabama holds an 8-1 mark and is 2-1 all-time versus FAU. The two teams last met on April 21, 2011, when both were playing in the same conference. Temple is just getting out of the gates with a 2-1 record overall and has Monmouth scheduled for March 3. The two Owl programs are 1-1 versus each other with Temple taking the last contest, on March 12, 2008, 5-1.
Katerina Filip leads the Owls as one just two upperclassmen. Filip is 6-3 in dual-match play and is on a four match winning streak. Freshmen Millie-Mae Matthews and Lexi Silna have adjusted to college play well, posting a 6-5 and 5-3 records, respectively.
