BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team (3-2) will return home following the first road trip of the year to play host to Delaware for a three-series starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday night.
FAU is riding a high after taking three of four versus Minnesota and celebrating sophomore
Jalen DeBose's breakout weekend, which garnered the centerfielder Conference USA Hitter of the Week honors. The Owls were unable to get the road win at No. 24 Miami on Wednesday, however.
Sophomore Nolan Schanual led the Owls with a solo home run to right versus the Canes. At the time, the blast tied the score but Owl miscues led to the 9-1 final.
Newcomer
Armando Albert has started each of the Owls' five games and is leading the team with a .412 batting average. The leadoff hitter has one triple and one home run this season.
Steven Loden picked up where he left off a year ago and is hitting .400 with a double. Leftfielder
Gabriel Rincones, Jr. has a team leading three homer runs and matches
Jalen DeBose's 10 RBI. On the mound,
Hunter Cooley leads the way with a 1-0 record and a 2.70 ERA.
Delaware opened the season at a tournament hosted by Stetson, so this will be their second weekend in Florida this season. The Blue Hens fell to Stetson in game one and to Manhattan in game two, but defeated Notre Dame 5-4 in game three.
Friday, Feb. 25 | FAU –
Jacob Josey (RHP) 0-1, 19.29 ERA vs. Delaware – Chris Ludman (RHP) 0-0, 3.86 ERA

The two teams have previously met six times with the Owls winning each. Their last meeting was back on Feb. 16, 2020. An opponent note, FAU's
Greg Mamula served as a Delaware assistant and the Blue Hens' recruiting coordinator from 2002-06.
Delaware's offensive attack is led by JJ Freeman, who is hitting .455 with two doubles. As a team, the Blue Hens have two home runs, one each by Joseph Carpenter and Aidan Kane.
