BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team (13-9, 3-7 C-USA) will close out the weekend on the road as the Owls travel to Murfreesboro, Tennessee for a rematch against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (14-9, 3-6 C-USA) on Sunday, Oct. 30 for a 2 p.m. ET first serve inside Alumni Memorial Gym.
- The Owls are 13-9 overall and have a 3-7 mark in C-USA play.
- Head coach Fernanda Nelson is in her 11th season leading the Owls and has amassed a 152-135 overall record during her time in Boca Raton.
- Sophomore Katelynn Robine ranks second in Conference USA in service aces per set, recording 0.58 service aces per set and 38 total this season.
- The Owls are led by sophomore trio Valeria Rosado, Katelynn Robine, and Klara Zarnovicka who have registered 3.43, 2.87, and 2.68 kills per set, respectively. Rosado's team-leading kills per set also ranks her sixth in Conference USA.
- Fellow sophomore and Owls' setter Noelle Stephens as dished out a team-leading 731 assists and has helped the Owls to a .223 attack percentage as a team this season.
- Senior Camryn Vogler anchors the Owls' backline, averaging 3.71 digs per set, while Rosado has tallied a team second-best 2.57 per set this season.
- Senior Green and junior Alicia Hearn have been the Owls' biggest net defenders this season, tallying 0.84 and 0.83 blocks per set this season each, respectively. Green leads the Owls with 64 total blocks so far this year.
- The Owls are just coming off a heartbreaking five-set loss against rival FIU on Friday. After dropping the first and third sets, the Owls rallied to secure the second and fourth sets. The Owls fell down early in the fifth set but rallied to tie things up at 11, before ultimately falling after a hard-fought 19-17 final.
- Middle Tennessee enters Sunday's contest at 14-9 overall and 3-6 in C-USA play.
- Head coach Chuck Crawford is in his 6th year leading the Blue Raiders and has collected a 55-93 record throughout his time in Murfreesboro.
- The Blue Raiders are led by Adri Rhoda and Kayla Henley on the attack. Rhoda paces the team with 3.00 kills per set, ranking 11th in C-USA, and hitting .261, while Henley has produced a team second-best 2.26 kills per set with a .271 hitting percentage. Rhoda also ranks first in the conference for service aces per set, averaging 0.68. Setter Taylor Eisert averages 9.35 assists per set and has directed the Blue Raider offense to a .249 team attacking percentage. Defensively, the Blue Raiders are anchored by libero Marley Banton, who leads the team with 3.98 digs per set. At the net, Kaylee Oscarson and Dasia Smith lead the Blue Raiders in blocks, registering 0.89 and 0.87 per set, respectively.
Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series between the Blue Raiders and the Owls, 18-11. However, FAU has been more successful in the series as of late, winning nine of the last 11 meetings between the two programs, but Middle Tennessee secured a win in the last meeting earlier this season on Oct. 14, 3-0.
The Owls return home for FAU's final regular season home weekend as they host the WKU Hilltoppers on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. and Charlotte for senior day on Sunday, Nov. 6 for a 12 p.m. first serve.
